ASAP - Mile 30

A Shoe Adoption Project Update: A Pre-Cal junior student of mine, Emily, told me today that she is actually the one who spearheaded the project to start a grass-root soccer league for underprivileged children. She thanked me for the shoes that we donated last month (see ASAP-Mile-28), she only found out this week that they came from me. Emily is a great student and attends the Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV) in San Dimas. Last summer, she spent two weeks on a missionary trip to Kenya and have devoted to provide children there with basic soccer equipment so that they can start their own program. Her project is called the Chosen Children of Promise and she strives to serve in Zimbabwe this upcoming summer. A group of youth will go back to Kenya this summer and they are willing to bring whatever they can collect to help Kenyan children start a soccer league. I immediately went to purchase six more pairs of soccer shoes. Truth be told, from the beginning I had envisioned this project to go beyond the local area, I'm surprised that it will reach children in third world areas so quickly. Thank you to all of the donors, supporters, and friends of this project. Your kindness has inspired me to keep it going. More to follow soon.
