I'm beyond happy for and proud of my AP Stats students who are nominated to be on the Top 15 for this year's HOCO court.  We took a fun photo during class.  From 9/22/2023

Back to Biking

The Newport 10-mile loop is one of my favorites.  After my race in Huntington Beach, I stopped by Mitsuwa for Japanese food, then did an easy ride in Newport.  From 9/17/2023

Back to Running

I ran a bit slower this year.  Since school started, I haven't been running consistently.  Instead, I mountain biked a lot with friends.  I still had a fun time, ran with wave 3 at an very easy pace.  At the end, I was happy to see that each mile was faster for a solid negative split in one of my favorite races of the year.  From 9/17/2023

Back to Mountain Biking #5

It was 10 degrees cooler than last week.  Mr. Dukowsky and I rode the 8 mile route, going clockwise on the Claremont Loop.  The new bike took me downhill fast and steady.  From 9/15/2023

Trek Mountain Bike - Fuel EX 9.8 XT (Gen 5)

I have owned my previous Trek mountain bike since 2009.  My friends have kept encouraging me to upgrade.  For a number of reasons, I made the purchase on Labor Day.  Near the end of my masters program at APU, I used getting a new bike as motivation to finish the degree.  I wanted to get another Trek, the new generation (Gen 6) came out.  While the new model may perform better, I like the Gen 5 frame more since it doesn't have an extra bracket under seat post.  Additionally, a base model for the Gen 6 is only slightly cheaper than the high end model for the Gen 5.  At Jax Bicycles in Fullerton, I found the best deal.  It was less than half of the MSRP, and a thousand dollars below what the Jax at Claremont was charging.  The guys at the Fullerton location were awesome as well.  Looking forward to riding this as much as I can.  From 9/4/23
