Doug – I truly appreciate the award!  I agree 100% that we have an incredible staff and I too am honored to be part of a talented and selfless staff.  Teaching freshmen with new curriculum in a non-science classroom is admirable.  I appreciate your flexibility for sure but mostly, Doug, I am thankful for the value you place on creating a positive classroom community where students can learn biology and persist as science students.  So glad you are a Bearcat and part of the Science Team J

Bonita Boys Basketball CIF Playoffs 2023

I'm so proud of our players for giving their all in this competitive matchup against San Gabriel Prep.  I know the players will grow and bounce back from this lost.  The gym was packed with lots of students and family supporters.  (From 2/18/2023)

Retro Game Played - Luigi's Mansion 3

Completed this fun game with beautiful graphics over winter break.  This series is now among my favorite of all time, I've finished all three games and I enjoy the series' creativity, theme, and music.  This was originally release in October of 2019, making this one of the newest games I've played.

Thank you Michelle!  I have been overwhelmed by the welcome and inclusion into the Bearcat family, and find myself fortunate to be counted as part of this incredible staff.  

This year, I have been introduced to an entirely new way of teaching biology.  While it is difficult to make large scale adjustments to the way you have been traditionally teaching, Deanna Bowman has made this transition relatively pain-free and has helped me avoid long nights crying myself to sleep in the fetal position.  Her support this year has been invaluable, and I know that sentiment stretches far beyond me with regards to the many hats she wears around our school.  Therefore, this Pawsitivty award goes to Deanna for all of the support and guidance she continues to provide. Thanks Deanna!

That was really sweet of you Taylor. I guess I will have to make you more gluten free cookies!!!!

Anyways, I would like to pass the Pawisitivity Award to a teacher that has taken on the task of making Bonita a little greener. This is a huge undertaking and requires so much of his time. He is always in his room to allow student to ask him questions or even meet his critters. I love hearing how excited the students are when leaving his room! He is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about science, which makes him a great conversation partner! And his knowledge about ants is second to no one. Doug Dolter, thank you for being such an amazing addition to the Bearcat team!

Retro Gaming - PlayStation Vita 2000 (Glacier White)

I had such a great experience modding the PS Vita 1000 that I shopped around for a Vita 2000 to add to my collection.  I found this open box item for under $190 and it's virtually brand new with the original box.  The matte white matched my Nintendo Switch OLED and Anbernic RG351P.  I will work on modding this device.  Currently, I'm aiming to add video output and bluetooth controlling to this white device so that it'll essentially be a PS Vita Switch console.  (From 1/26/2023)

Retro Gaming - PlayStation Vita 1000 (Cosmic Red)

New toy: I ordered this used PlayStation Vita 1000 (Cosmic Red) through eBay.  Shipped from Japan, I'm happy with it's condition.  First released in Japan in 2011, this model has an OLED display.  I continue to learn various ways to hack the original operating systems.  The tinkering of the console itself has provided me more fun than the games themselves.  Retro gaming handhelds and system modifications have been an interesting hobby for me since the summer of 2020.  I just ordered a second Vita (a 2000 model) and plan to work on connecting these units to a controller as well as to a monitor.  In short, this would be a Sony "Switch" that plays PS1, PSP, and PS Vita games.  (From January 2023)

I would like to pass the Pawsitivity Award to another science bearcat who is a huge help on campus, especially to anyone who has ever had a rogue critter make its way into the classroom! Michelle Casasola, you are a dear and a wonderful person to collaborate with friend (and not just because you let me be your guinea pig/science experiment for all gluten free cookie recipes you find J). Your infectious giggle and diverse knowledge of all things bug inspire humor and enjoyment in conversations with your students and colleagues. You challenge your students to strive for greatness, while making sure they are having fun (and getting the staff involved with Mitosis-related music videos). I am grateful to call you my coworker and friend.
