Pawsitivity Award #54

Thank you for that honesty Veronica.

Sounds like it’s time to get my filter back in the shop…

I would like to take this time and nominate a teacher who has gone the extra mile, and then some, to help a new student this year.

Due to a major misunderstanding this student (who didn’t converse much in English) was placed as a senior due to his age.

She had been told that he has very little schooling in his home country.  He was given a simple schedule to get him through until his 18th birthday.

He was placed in her Spanish class as a T/A to assist him.  Surprisingly to all of us ESPECIALLY her, he came to school daily and sat in her class and worked hard.

She had him do the opposite of her Spanish students by translating into English the work she gave him.  She recognized that he was NOT lacking the education that she was told.

She immediately brought it to our attention that he must’ve been in school far longer than we thought and was working hard for her.  She reached out to his mother to help track down his records.  She continues to advocate for him and wishes to see him succeed and graduate.

Thank you Maria Ramirez for going above and beyond the your teaching duties.  Thank you for stepping forward to assist and care for your students.

Maria encompasses the true meaning of Pawsitivity.  I am very pleased to pass the award now to her.

I would also like to pass along a token that was given to me by a former Bearcat,  Michelle Castro.

Show it off proudly to your students Maria.
