Thank You, Angie and Tony
This cool beanie comes from Dublin, Ireland. My friends Angie and Tony just raced a half-marathon there. They were so kind to bring me this souvenir, it matches my school colors. I love it.

Smudgepot 2017
It was a warm afternoon. We started with a tail gate party at the student parking lot at 5pm. At 7pm, the Smudgepot game took place at Citrus College. The Bearcats lost a hard fought game 8-19 to the San Dimas Saints. San Dimas retains the Smudgepot. It was a wonderful evening for me to visit current and former students. I also hung out with other Bonita teachers, many of whom I rarely see during the school week. Best of luck to the Bonita Bearcats football team for the rest of the season. Go Bearcats!

Welcome Week Rally + Bonfire
Bonita celebrated our first week back with a spirited rally. Students performed class dances and competed in games. In the evening, we held our annual bonfire. Again, the spirit team, D-Street dance team, and our band/color guard performed for a celebratory evening as we prepare to play in our rivalry Smudgepot game on Saturday night. Go Bearcats!

ASAP - Mile 37
A Shoe Adoption Project Update - Shauna and I finally met in person after six months of working together over email. She is the lead case manager at Foothill Family Shelter. Our schedules conflict during the school year when I delivered the previous two batches of shoes. It was a pleasure finally meeting Shauna, she is both kind and supportive.

ASAP - Mile 35
Thank you to my friend Angela for her generous donation to this charity. Angela and her husband are fun-loving runners who enjoy destination races across the world. She also takes fantastic photos and cheers us on during track workouts. We enjoy listening to her stories over dinner on Taco Tuesdays. Angela, best of luck on your upcoming marathon in Europe. Keep that Balloon Lady out of sight, let her and other runners eat your dust!
This project uses 100% of any donations received directly to the children.

ASAP - Mile 34
A Shoe Adoption Project Update: Nine more pairs of shoes (and potentially up to 12 pairs) will be donated by the end of this week. This will be our biggest donation batch to date! The lead case manager from an Upland homeless shelter gave me the shoe sizes of her children clients earlier this week. It is my goal to deliver the shoes by the end of the week, in time for some of these children to have new shoes on their first day of school.
Thank you to all of the donors, supporters, and friends of this charity project. You guys are amazing. More to follow very soon.

Hike to Mt. Baldy
On a sunny and relatively cool Sunday, I joined IERC runners on a 14 mile hike to Mt. Baldy. It was a challenge, I had to work to keep up with my veteran hiking friends Brent and Frank. We hiked from Manker to the Notch, through Devils Backbone and to the summit.

Seattle Day Six - August 1, 2017
I just had to stop by the Roastery one more time before leaving Seattle. It was a Iced Sparkling Espresso with Mint this time (refreshing, but not my favorite). Thank you Leo for putting up with my caffeine stops throughout the week. See you next time, Seattle.
The aftermath: Carolyn was so kind to bake me unique cookies for running with her during the second half of the Jack and Jill Marathon.
Her cookies are delicious. There goes my diet...oh well.
Before the end of summer, many of Carolyn's running friends signed a photo frame of her marathon finishing moments which captured all of her strength and emotions of the run.
We kept it a secret for about a week, when she finally saw the present, here's the reaction!
