Bonita Employees of the Year 2022

Congratulations to our awesome Bearcat faculty members!

From Mr. Ritchie 3/14/2022...

Good morning Bearcats,

Each year we get the opportunity to recognize employees that have done an exceptional job inside the classroom, on the grounds or in the office. This year we had many employees who were nominated by their peers. Each of the employees who were nominated are worthy of the award and we thank them for the wonderful work they do each day for the students and staff of Bonita High School. Today we get to celebrate three employees who the staff voted as our employees of the year. Each of these employees have done a tremendous job and they are a great representation for what Bonita is all about. Please join me in congratulating our certificated, classified and management employee of the year.

Certificated: Laurie Brandler

Laurie has built the culinary program into a juggernaut. She works with food and culinary students to teach them how to cook a variety of foods and during competition season she is routinely here on Saturdays practicing with her students for their ProStart competition. We love competition season because we get to sample her students cooking.  She has received numerous awards for her program and her students always place in the top tier of the competitions they compete in. She goes above and beyond for her students and that is why her culinary program is so strong. Her students go on to high level culinary programs after high school to prepare themselves to become a chef one day. Congratulations to Laurie!

Classified: Brandy Sullivan

Have you ever been sick at the last minute and had to call Brandy to get a sub, get class coverage or get a bus? Brandy’s job during the peak of COVID became exponentially harder and complex. Brandy has been invaluable this year as we have needed to adjust to COVID leaves, people getting quarantined, and managing COVID protocols for busses. She has done a great job of accommodating the ever changing needs of our students and staff and she does it with a smile and a “can do” attitude. In addition to making sure all classes are covered, she is Gene’s right hand person in regards to SAT and AP testing. Thanks for your hard work and congratulations to Brandy!

Management: Gene Pizzolo

What can we say about Mr. Pizzolo. He is always here doing a variety of things to make BHS go. His work ethic is something that is awe inspiring and he stays late many days to make sure that everything is organized and ready for the next day. His attention to detail is incredible and that is why he is able to create the master schedule and run SAT and AP tests so efficiently. He is always at games, both home and away supporting the Bearcats, and he enjoys watching our students perform in the band, choir and theatre. He truly does bleed green and we are so happy that he is going to get a chance to relax and enjoy the finer things in life in just a few short months. Congratulations to Gene, this is much deserved!
