Halloween 2018
Thank you, ASB, and senior student Gage for designing this HydroFlask shirt for me. It's decorated with some of my favorite things. Derivatives, math symbols, histogram, and rice. Have a happy and safe Halloween. =) (From 10/30/2018)

Bonita vs Glendora 2018
We took a tough loss against the league champions tonight. Nonetheless, the players played hard and we thank the coaches for a great regular season. We will wait to see what the playoff picture looks like, I hope we're in the playoffs and I look forward to our next game. Jordan insisted on taking a picture together.

Sign Language Video
Jordan A. is a enthusiastic student in my Integrated Math III class. She is a cheerleader and is taking sign language as an elective. She made a video about me for her ASL class project.
"My teacher's name is Mr.Yip. He grew up speaking Cantonese and he grew up in the city of Chino Hills in the state of California. In high school he studied French for 3 years and he remembers none."
Thanks, Jordan. Gio makes a special guest appearance in the background.

Treasure Hunt for Camille and Tracy
Earlier last week, two of my top juniors students Camille (AP Calc + AP Stats) and Tracy (AP Calc) surprised me with an iced milk tea during lunchtime. Later that week, I went to the 7-Leaves Cafe in Chino Hills on a Thursday night and got them two green mung bean teas. Just for fun, I sent them around campus on an impromptu treasure hunt on Friday. I put the first hint in an envelop to be opened by both girls. (From 10/19/2018)
1a) Go behind Yip's LA Marathon medal in the classroom.
1b) Head Wes (Mr. Wes) and check the top of his microwave.
2) Look under this former police officer's (Mr. Bell) foosball table.
3) Mr. Awww Yeah (Mr. Baumunk) has an office. Go look under his keyboard.
4) Mr. Drama Director (Mr. Frederick) also coaches Improv, check under his chair.
5) Mr. Conspiracy Theory aka Super AP US History Teacher (Mr. Mullen) has a clue under his mousepad.
6) Back to Mr. Yip's room and check under his cylindrical thirst quenching liquid container (aka HydroFlask).
7) The treasure has been in the "coolest box" in room 811 (refrigerator) all along.
The rule was that they couldn't bother other classrooms during class time. They did the great and completed the mission during intervention. They received two cold drinks, which they consumed during lunch. =) Thanks to all the teachers who allowed for this silliness on a Friday.

Bonita @ Claremont
The Bonita Bearcats played much better in the second half to take a victory over our cross town rival. It was also CHS's Homecoming night, they celebrated their halftime presentation with fireworks.

Improv Show 2018
The Improv Comedy Team made the audience laugh all night with their wits and skits. I particularly enjoyed performances from my students Ahlitney (AP Stats) and Ian (IM3). (From 10/19/2018)

Thank you Camille and Tracy
Camille (AP Calc + AP Stats) and Tracy (AP Calc) have hour long lunch and they bought me a milk tea. I'm so grateful but insisted that they don't need to get me anything. They said it was a sign of appreciation. I'm so spoiled. (From 10/17/2018)
