Reject the Null
Thank you, Liam and Ethan. In context: when the p-value from a statistical testing is low, we reject the null hypothesis. (From 5/31/2018)

Metal Medal Frame
Thank you to my friends Cong and Kitty for this beautiful frame. It gave me a structure to organize and display my finisher's medals over the years. It is a personally meaningful display in a corner of my room. I'm very grateful to be able to participate in many events. I hope to continue to be physically active and to pursue a lifelong goal of fitness.

Mr. Yip's Classroom Version 14.0
This was my summer project. I gave the my classroom a make over. I added seven dry-erase white boards separated and decorated with framed school t-shirts. The spirit is to make use of the wall and to provide space for students to be on task more often during class. A challenging year awaits as I will be teaching AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and Integrated Math III using CPM. (Below are pictures of the wall before this summer.)

Gift for Leo
Leo is everyone's running friend. While I was in Kansas City, our group of running friends gathered for Bowling Night. Leo had the highest score. I ordered a personalized trophy and medal for him as his birthday gift. (July 2018)
The statue comes with a soccer ball.
I covered the black and white with a simple acrylic green paint.
Add the three holes for the "bowling ball".
Rumor is that Leo uses a 14 lbs ball.
He also gets a medal.
The medal includes his scores that night.

Gift For Anthony
I gave Anthony two Shakespeare books for all of his help this year. He enjoyed Much Ado About Nothing and Macbeth. I asked the class to sign the gift wrap. Throughout the year, Anthony came into 3rd period early to help distribute paper for the AP Statistics students. (From May 2018)

Summer Trail Runs
Summer is a time for me to self improve in areas outside of teaching. I completed some trail running/racing with friends and pushed my own limits physically. I am grateful for the ability to run and be physically active. (From 6/21/2018 in Peters Canyon in Tustin, CA).

Thank You, Brian
Thank you, Brian, for your kind words and gift card. We joked about Brian's obsession with the Metro system all year. For his birthday, we got him a Gold Line T-Shirt. I played a prank on him by initially placing a blue circle over the gold circle.

Thank You, CC1
This tumbler will keep me hydrated and caffeinated in the classroom. Thank you, Carolyn. Those races were memorable experiences. In July of 2017, I paced Carolyn's second half of her full marathon to a strong finish. That day, she set a huge personal record on a course with challenge terrain. The pebbles on the hard packed road gave her feet some issues. Yet, as always, she powered through to a fantastic time. In April of 2018, she was on a mission to achieve a new goal. I again had the pleasure to pace her second half of the race. This time, the course was challenging and it was a hot day. Nonetheless, she was fitter and more determined than ever. She ran a Boston Marathon qualifying time (BQ). Only a small fraction of all runners hit this elite marker, Carolyn is now and forever among this group of athletes. Way to go!

Every 15 Minutes
Our school and local officials put together an impactful program to teach students about the seriousness of driving safety. Do not drink and drive. Do not text and drive. Safety first. (From 5/24/2018)

Last to Leave
Sometimes, not always, there should be a sense of pride in being the last one to leave work. This happened more often when I was a younger / newer teacher. On this day, I was consumed with framing some t-shirts as new displays in my room. I'll take pictures of the them soon. (From 5/22/2018)

First to Arrive
On rare occasions, I would be one of the first to be on campus in the morning. Early quiet mornings are great times to get work done. (From 6/6/2018).

Gift for Sami and Alisha
I got simple gifts for the Sami and Alisha to congratulate their state championship in Girl 4x400 (along with seniors Amara and Ceci). Since Sami and Alisha are not seniors, they have school during the last week. I have the pleasure of having Same in Geometry when she was a freshman and this year for Pre-Cal. I have only met Alisha briefly during Math Lab and home track meets. (From 6/4/2018)
