Cheer Pink 2017
Team Hope at Bonita raised awareness for breast cancer at tonight's home football game. Their booth sold pink t-shirts, wrist bands, and baked goods with proceeds going towards breast cancer research. They also invited guest to take pictures in front of the photo booth where visitors may also post messages of encouragement. Thank you to our cheer leaders, ASB, Mrs. Ray, and Mrs. Bowman for leading this cause.

A Shoe Adoption Project Update - Thank you, Michelle, for your generous donation. Michelle is a strong runner and a very positive person. Her contribution reminds me of the generosity boomerang: https://goo.gl/q2dwLM
Recently, I have reached out to three separate local foster children's organizations. I am still awaiting their responses and hope to deliver more shoes soon.

Hair Care Advice - The Pawse Season 3 Episode 4
A few teachers were asked about hair care advice for Mr. Eichen, who recently donated his hair to cancer patients. At the 1:40 mark of this episode, a local bald math teacher gives his advice. Thanks, Aidan, for interviewing me for this skit. Our video production team does an amazing job with the school videos. Enjoy.

Student of the Month - October 2017
Congratulations to my Student of the Month nominee - Valerie. In a school with close to 2,000 students, Valerie was selected for her excellence in academics and athletics. She was honored during lunch on Tuesday and walked down the quad with the band's drum line performing. We were both served with a very special lunch. Valerie also brought her friend Bella (also my former student). I have the pleasure of having Valerie in my AP Statistics class. She sets the curve and is also the captain our school's cross country team. We plan to race a 5K together someday.

Homecoming Game 2017
It was an eventful evening. The halftime show featured the crowning of this year's Homecoming Queen. On the court were three of my former students: Leila, Michelle, and Cynthia. All three are wonderful students and I am happy for their recognitions. I know they had a lot of fun activities this week. I had the honor of being asked by Leila to drive her down to the center of the field during the halftime festivities. Here are some photos that captured the night:
Chilling with Mullen and Wes before halftime...
Hanging out and taking pictures before the show...

Michelle has all the swag...
We were joined by the 2016 Homecoming Queen Sadie, who was also my former student and a wonderful host for Season 2 of The Pawse...

Our favorite VIP - Mr. Ritchie - stopped by to say hello...
Leila took a selfie and we did a little bit of Golf-Kart-Pool Karaoke...
The red balloons revealed the winner...
And it is Queen Leila!!! The crowd goes wild in happiness...
Leila has a huge fan base...
The ASB did a wonderful job...

Homecoming Driver 2017
ASB let the six Homecoming princesses pick a teacher to drive them out to the crowning ceremony during halftime. I was asked by Leila and I proudly said yes. Leila was an outstanding student in my geometry class in her freshman year. All of the teachers appreciate her positive attitude. I have also enjoyed watching her compete in volleyball matches over the years. The Homecoming Game is Friday night.

Lunch Time Pull Up Challenge
The Marines visited campus on Wednesday and brought their pull-up bars to challenge students. I gave it a go while wearing the new Dig Pink shirt. Truth be told, many of the attempts at the end didn't count since my big heavy head didn't clear the bar.

ASAP - Mile 40
A Shoe Adoption Project Update - I just found out that the shipment of five large boxes of t-shirts and our 12 pairs of shoes have been sent off to Houston! In fact, the shipment went out last week. I thought there was a delay, but nope, we got it done. Thank you to Mrs. Bowman for organizing the effort and to Mr. Ritchie for leading the shipment transactions. We hope these items can help relieve those who are affected by Hurricane Harvey. Thank you to the generous donors, kind supporters, and encouraging friends of this charity.
