Running has been one of my hobbies for over 20 years. I have had seasons when I was more dedicated to the sport, and eras of my life when running has not been a priority. My dedication to my role as a teacher, my time caring for family, and my two separate graduate school studies often put running in the backseat. For the past 18 months or so, I have been as dedicated to running as I have ever been. Weekly long runs on my own or with partners, track workouts with running friends, and longer tempo workouts with more advanced runners have been a stable of my schedule. I have also been blessed to have been healthy throughout this stretch. I attribute the stronger body to withstand the hard efforts to my strength training. I don't push a lot of heavy weights, but intentional barbell squats, deadlifts, RDLs, and weighted calf raises have allowed my body to stay injury-free over this era of running. Joining Chuze Fitness near my school have been one of the better decisions in my fitness journey. While I'm may or may not reach another peak of my personal performance, I am grateful to be able to enjoy this journey and to continue to push my body. "The Effort Is The Prize"
