AP Reading 2019 - Day One (Start Scoring)

(From Day One: 6/11/2019  Hometown Shirt Day)
I went out for a three mile run with Tim in the morning. It's unusually cool and dry here at KC. After breakfast, we attended our orientation and I received training on FRQ #6. It is a well-written investigative task question.  My table partner Bridget, elbow partner Aryn, and table leader Lisa are outstanding.  Over the next week, we learned a lot about each other and shared many laughter.  We read the questions from 2:15pm and I am very much enjoying it. I was feeling a little fatigue throughout the first two days, so I took a walk to RayGun after the reading to get some sun.  I love the small souvenirs that I can buy at this store.

Morning run with Tim.

AP Reading 2019 - Arrival Day (Year Four)

(From Year Four Arrival Day: 6/10/2019)
I flew from ONT to PHX to MCI - Both flights were on time and I landed in MCI in KC by 5:30pm.  In between flights, I continued to read the book Naked Statistics and will strive to finish Burn Math Class by the end of this summer.  I met Tim on the bus on our way to downtown.  We're staying at the Crown Plaza for a second consecutive year.  This hotel just went through renovation, the room looks new and clean. Before we got our room, we walked to the convention center for our credentials and obligatory AP water bottle. During my first year, I stayed at the Hilton President with roommate Thomas.  I started rooming with Tim in our second year, which was at the Marriott.  Daryl, Tim, and I ate BBQ at County Road Ice House. We hung out at the Social Lounge in the Muehlebach and watched Game 5 of the NBA Finals.  It's great to get with my two good friends again for this summer's AP Reading. For the first two days, I wasn't feeling great physically. It may have been due to fatigue from the long academic year along with the travelling. Fortunately, I felt better each day.

Thank you, Nikki

Thank you, Nikki, for being an outstanding student in Geometry (9th) and AP Calculus (12th). Nikki is simply one of the best.  I particularly remember how amazing she is at performing the National Anthem. (From 5/20/2019).

Bonita Senior Sunset 2019

It's a beautiful afternoon on a beautiful campus.  Although the stadium is closed this year for renovation, the seniors were happy to gather and enjoy each others' company before graduation. (From 5/30/2019)

Thank you, Philip

Philip (Pre-Cal and AP Stats) made this "Shark Elephant" for me. Big Philip is super muscular and he has reminded/inspired me to keep lifting.  I will continue to work out at the gym to try to get as big as Big Phil.  His arms are so big that they are at the 98th percentile. (From 5/31/2019)

Bonita Grad Walk 2019

This is a new senior event, soon-to-be graduates visited their elementary schools to thank their grade school teachers and to tell the little ones where they will be heading to college next year. As they were in their caps and gowns, I took the opportunity to capture some photos with my first period AP Calculus students. Photo credit goes to Mikey G. (From 5/30/2019).

I appreciated the morning visits by A&A, Ahlitney and Amber.

Thank you Haley and Sami

Thank you Haley and Sami for putting up with me for three years of math.  Freshmen year in geometry, junior year in pre-calculus, and senior year in AP Calculus.  We have grown together over the past four years.  With my current teaching schedule of Integrated Math III and AP Math courses, it is unlikely that I will have students for three years of math in the near future.  I know teachers shouldn't have favorites, but Haley and Sami always come to my mind anytime I think about my best students.  I gave them each a small gift pack.

Bonita AP Statistics Bear 2019

Thank you to the AP Statistics class for this unique gift.  With his paw is pressed, there's an audio clip of Diana saying "Reject the Null".  A special thanks to Diana for organizing the building of this bear.  (From 5/28/2019)
